Bayou Teche Bridge Closure Scheduled for Repairs

The Zenor Road bridge over Bayou Teche, also known as the Rizzo Bridge, will be closed to traffic starting Monday, June 17 through Monday, August 5, 2024, weather permitting. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has scheduled the closure to allow crews to perform necessary repairs and upgrades to the bridge.

The work will include hydraulic repairs, span motor replacements, shimming the bridge, and installing structural steel under the roadway. Due to the nature of the repairs, emergency vehicles will not have access to the bridge during the closure.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and use the detour route consisting of LA 182, Bridge Road (also known as the Jennings Bridge), and Victoria Riverside Road (Parish Road 108). The closure is scheduled to begin only after the Sorrel Bridge in St. Mary Parish reopens to traffic on Monday, June 17, 2024.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and reminds everyone to drive with caution through the construction zone. Please be aware of work crews and equipment in the area.
