Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Jody R. Cubbedge Sr. W/M 64 Egle St. Morgan City was arrested on July 12, 2022 at 8:35 PM for
- HIT AND RUN
- CARELESS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A CRASH
- DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION
- NO INSURANCE
- SWITCHED LICENSE PLATE
On July 12, 2022 at approximately 7:47 PM the Berwick Police Department received a call of a two-vehicle crash on La Hwy. 182. Upon arrival in the area, it was learned that one of the vehicles left the scene after the crash. A description of the vehicle was given by witnesses at which time the vehicle was located a short time later. Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Cubbedge. Cubbedge was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Hit and Run, Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Crash, Driving Under Suspension, No Insurance, and Switched License Plate.
Margaret Bergeron W/F 34 Carline St. Berwick was arrested on July 12, 2022 at 11:04 PM for
- WARRANT-CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELIQUENCY OF A JUVENILE
On July 12, 2022 at approximately 11:04 PM officers located Bergeron at her residence on Carline Street. Bergeron was advised of an active warrant though the Berwick Police Department and was placed under arrest without incident for the charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. The warrant stems from a previous investigation that was being conducted by the Berwick Police Dept. and through that investigation, learned that Bergeron was purchasing alcohol for minors. It was also learned that she was allowing the minor to consume alcohol in her presence. Bergeron was released on a summons to appear in court.
