Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Malcolm Sims B/M 34 Second St. Ruston was arrested on May 16,2022 at 09:53 AM for
WARRANT- SPEEDING 56/50
- WARRANT- ILLEGAL USE OF CDS IN PRESENCE OF MINOR
- WARRANT- POSSESSION OF SCH. I MARIJUANA
- WARRANT- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
On May 16, 2022 at approximately 09:53 AM officers with the Berwick Police Department traveled to the Lincoln Parish Sheriffs Office where Sims was located and held active warrants through the Berwick Police Department. Sims was placed under arrest and transported back to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the outstanding warrants for the charges of Speeding 56/50, Illegal Use of a CDS in the Presence of a Person Under 17, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sims remains incarcerated at the Berwick Police Department with a $5,250 bond.
Russell Blanchard Jr. W/M 34 Allison St. Morgan City was arrested on May 16,2022 at 9:27 PM for
- TURN SIGNAL 100 FT. PRIOR TO INTERSECTION REQUIRED
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA (UNDER 14 Grams)
- POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CDS METHAMPHETAMINE
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
- HOLD FOR MORGAN CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT
On May 16, 2022 at approximately 7:07PM a vehicle was observed to not signal properly at an intersection. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and contact was made with Blanchard. While speaking with Blanchard, officers detected an odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Blanchard refused to allow officers to search the vehicle after the odor was detected at which time a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle. A warrants check revealed that Blanchard had two active warrants through the Morgan City Police Department. A search of the vehicle was conducted and Marijuana, Methamphetamine, and items of drug paraphernalia were located inside. Blanchard was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Turn Signal (100 ft. Prior to intersections), Possession of Marijuana (Under 14 Grams), Possession of Schedule II CDS Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A hold was placed on Blanchard as well for the Morgan City Police Department. Blanchard remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
