Roland James Blocker, a beloved father and husband, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the age of 45 following a short battle with kidney cancer.
Roland was born in Morgan City and was a lifelong resident of Patterson. He is the youngest of two children born to James Blocker Jr. and Ruth Blocker. On July 7, 2001 he married the love of his life, Mandy Vidrine Blocker. Together they were blessed with two sons, Riley and Ridge. Roland found his love of driving 18 wheeler trucks at the age of 18 years old. Some things he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, cruising, and driving his truck “Big Girl.”
His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his wife of nearly 22 years, Mandy Blocker; their sons, Riley and Ridge Blocker; his mother, Ruth Drash Blocker; his sister, Michelle Leger and her husband Gary; his half-sister, Angie Carpenter and her husband James; his half-brother, Danny Blocker and his wife Pia; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Blocker Jr.; his paternal grandparents, James E. Blocker Sr. and Pauline Thoden Blocker; and his maternal grandparents, Wilbert Drash Sr. and Mary LeBlanc Drash.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Word of Life Family Church, 108 Ryan Drive, Patterson, LA 70392. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Mark E. Gowan and Pastor Mark W. Gowan officiating. In keeping with Roland’s wishes, following funeral services he will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to help alleviate funeral expenses.
