Town of Berwick to hold Public Hearing to Discuss Levying Increased or Rolling Forward Adjusted Millage Rates

The Berwick Mayor & Council will hold a public hearing regarding to discuss whether or not they will levy increased millage rates or roll forward the additional rates. The town released the following public notice regarding the hearing.

“Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 7, Section 23(C) of the Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B) that a public hearing of the Town of Berwick Town Council will be held at its regular meeting place in the Council Room of the Berwick Town Hall, located at 3225 Third Street, Berwick, LA., on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 6:15 P.M. to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum.

The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next tax year from the increased millage is $721,109.10 and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $22,202.52.”
