ST. MARY PARISH, La. – Beginning on Monday, January 29, 2024, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) will initiate a $2,167,423.75 project to restore the Sorrel, Katy, and Rizzo Bridges over Bayou Teche in St. Mary Parish.

As part of DOTD’s Off-System Bridge Program, the Parish-owned bridges will receive electrical and mechanical repairs along with other necessary work.

Construction is scheduled from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., dependent on weather conditions.

Anticipated bridge closures will occur throughout the duration of the project.

The work is expected to conclude in January 2025.

DOTD’s Off-System Bridge Program aims to replace or restore structurally deficient or functionally obsolete parish structures in a cost-effective manner.
