Three Arrested After Labadieville Business Theft

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Mercedes Elizabeth Usey, 22, of 118 St. Charles Bypass Road, Thibodaux, LA, and two juveniles, ages 15 and 16 of Thibodaux, all on charges stemming from the June 24, 2022, burglary of a Labadieville retail outlet.

On the aforementioned date, deputies responded to the complaint and found that forced entry had occurred. During the initial investigation, the owner identified numerous retail items had been stolen during the offense.

Detectives continued the initial investigation and determined that Mercedes Elizabeth Usey was attempting to sell some of the stolen merchandise.

On July 18, 2022, Mercedes Elizabeth Usey was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

  • Accessory after the Fact to Simple Burglary
  • Obstruction of Justice

Usey posted a $15,000 bond and was released.

Continued investigation resulted in the filing of verified complaints against a 16-year-old Thibodaux juvenile who was arrested on July 25, 2022.

A 15-year-old juvenile was also arrested on July 30, 2022.

  • Both juveniles are charged with:
  • Simple Burglary
  • Simple Criminal Damage to Property

Both juveniles remain in custody.
