Theresa was born in Franklin on November 30, 1947, the second of eight children born to Morris Chauvin and the former Dora Fields, and passed away at the age of 73 on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Franklin who worked as a blackjack dealer at Cypress Bayou Casino for many years, a career she truly enjoyed. She retired in 1999 to help care for her grandson. Caring for others came naturally for Theresa. She often upended her life to help care for others in need. Some of her favorite pastimes included camping, tending to her yard and flowers, sitting on her porch enjoying a cup of coffee and visiting with company, and spoiling her grandson. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her son, Ronald Mire Jr.; her grandson, Zachary K. Mire; daughter-in-law, Bonnye Bodin Mire; daughter-in-law, Yvette Baham Mire; five siblings, Morris Chauvin Jr. and his wife Sara, David Chauvin, Cathy Sedatol and her husband Jude, Michael Chauvin and his wife Eljean, and Carol C. Businelle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Mire Sr.; her mother, Dora Fields Ashley; her father, Morris Chauvin Sr.; and two brothers, Shelby Chauvin and Bryan Chauvin Sr.; her mother-in-law, Doris Bourque Mire; and her father-in-law, Elton (Tom) Mire Sr.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made in honor of her grandson Zachary to the Autism Society of Acadiana, 3108 West Pinhook Road, Suite 101, Lafayette, LA 70508, 337-235-4425, https://acadianaautism.com/donate.
