Suspect in Custody After Hostage Situation in New Iberia

Iberia Parish, LA – On July 15, 2025, at approximately 9:00 pm, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, in conjunction with the Louisiana State Police and New Iberia Police Department SWAT teams, responded to a hostage situation in the 300 block of Dubois Road.
Upon arrival, Patrol Division deputies successfully secured the scene, and the female victim was safely removed from the residence with the assistance of SWAT team members.
Following an approximately three hour stand-off, the suspect, 34-year-old Dustin Walker of New Iberia, was taken into custody. He is currently being held at the Iberia Parish Jail and charged with the following:
LA R.S. 14:34.1 – Second Degree Battery
LA R.S. 32:57.1 – Failure to Appear (Warrant)
LA R.S. 32:57.1 – Failure to Appear (Warrant)
Additional charges are expected.
Walker is currently being held at the Iberia Parish Jail on a $65,000 bond.
