A suspect is in custoday after leading several law enforcement agencies on a high-speed pursuit that began in Lafourche Parish and ended just west of the Calumet Cut in St. Mary Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop C Public Information Officer Henry Perez tells KQKI News that 63-year-old Jonath R. Williamson of New Orleans was observed traveling 90 mph in a posted 70 mph zone while westbound on US 90 in Lafourche Parish. Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit. The pursuit continued westbound on US 90 into St. Mary Parish, where the vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed stop sticks on US 90 near the Calumet Cut, disabling multiple tires on the vehicle. After the tires were disabled, Williamson brought the vehicle to a controlled stop along US 90 just before Highway 182 and was taken into custody without incident.
Williamson has been booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the charges of Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway. No bond has been set at this time.
