Centerville, LA – St. Mary Parish Public School District issued a one-time stipend to its full-time, active employees on April 29, following board approval at their April 10 meeting.
The stipend stems from the district’s .45% sales tax collection through February 2025, which voters approved on July 1, 2021. This tax revenue contributes to employee compensation and benefits packages.
The district distributed the stipends as separate checks from regular monthly salaries. School officials acknowledged local residents’ support, which enables the district to maintain its workforce investments.
The measure reflects the district’s ongoing efforts to support its educational staff through dedicated tax revenue streams approved by parish voters.
