St. Mary Arrest Report 7-29-2022

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 34 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Jaicherydan Treel Gutter, 24, Franklin, LA, was arrested on July 28, 2022, at 11:35 am on a warrant for the following charges:

  • Illegal use of weapons or dangerous instruments
  • Attempted first-degree murder
  • Criminal conspiracy
  • Criminal damage to property-aggravated

On January 24, 2022, deputies were dispatched to a report of shots fired on James St. in Siracusa. The deputies arrived on the scene, blocked off the area, located casings, and preserved evidence in the initial phase of the investigation.

The incident was handed over to the Investigations Section. Detectives proceeded with the investigation and subsequently, Gutter was developed as a person of interest. Simultaneous investigations were being conducted by detectives with the Morgan City Police Department and the Berwick Police Department which led to Gutter’s arrest by the MCPD.

SMPSO detectives made contact with Gutter at the MCPD and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking on the SMPSO charges. Bail has not been set at this time.

SMPSO detectives would like to express their appreciation to the Morgan City Police Department and the Berwick Police Department for their hard work which was crucial in this case.

Charles Earl Beverly, 29, Franklin, LA, was arrested on July 28, 2022, at 4:27 pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery by strangulation, violation of protective orders, and interfering with emergency communication. Bail has not been set.

NARCOTICS SECTION

Byron Sonia, 42, Franklin, LA, was arrested on July 28, 2022, at 11:26 pm on a warrant for the following charges:

  • Driver must be licensed
  • Turning movements and required signals
  • Possession of heroin
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Bail has not been set.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
