Sidney Dale Sid Nelson, 61, a resident of Patterson, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Sid was born on March 24, 1960 in Miami, Florida the son of William Oscar Nelson and Rose Marie Grace Stansbury.

Sid was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as his two dogs, Genji andDillian. He was an avid outdoorsman always ready to go out fishing or frogging. He was an electrician by trade for over 40 years, doing residential and commercial electric as well as air conditioning and heating. He loved the New Orleans Saints, always faithfully watching each and every game. He loved Halloween and enjoyed setting up haunted houses for the neighborhood kids.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Lynette Net Boudreaux of Patterson; two children, Joshua Paul Nelson of Berwick and Theresa Chelette and husband Daniel of Patterson; nine grandchildren, Breanna Bourgeois, Matthew Bourgeois, Christian Nelson, Gabrial Nelson, Phoebe Nelson, Devynn Chelette, Trysta Chelette, Aedynn Chelette and Faith Chelette; one great grandson, Grayson Dunaway; six siblings, Anita Broxson of Abbeville, Alice Culverhouse and husband Gene of Sarepta, Louisiana, Linda Suire and husband Clayton of Kaplan, Lela Smith and husband Woody of Kaplan, Everette Broxson Jr. of Patterson and George Broxson and companion Stephanie of Kaplan; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Kirk Slick Chaisson of Bayou Vista; father-in-law, GardieBoudreaux; brother-in-law, Britt Boudreaux and wife Jody.

Sid was preceded in death by his parents, William Oscar Nelson and Rose Marie Grace Stansbury; step father, Everette Broxson Sr; one sister, Sandra K. Nelson; one brother, Donnie Broxson; mother-in-law, Mary Ella Thompson Boudreaux; life long friend, Carla Chaisson.

A celebration of life will be held at his home with his family and close friends at a later date.
