Human remains have been located in the area if Cherokee Street in New Iberia according to the New Iberia Police Department.
The New Iberia Police Department are working with the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab to identify the remains.
The remains were reportedly found as part of a preliminary investigation and could be related to the disappearance of Deja Cummings, who was reported missing on Oct. 18 of last year.
No foul play is suspected at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
