THIBODAUX, La. — Study.com has ranked Nicholls State University No. 8 in the country for its online English degree.
Nicholls was the only school in Louisiana to make the list.
“Our classes are primarily taught by our full-time faculty, who are experienced online teachers and accomplished in their fields of specialty,” said Dr. Robert Allen Alexander, department head of English, Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. “And the fellow students they will encounter in class discussion forums represent a diversity of backgrounds and experiences that one would expect and hope would be part of the fabric of any higher education experience.”
Study.com’s criteria included accessibility, affordability, academic offerings, resources available to online students and extracurricular activities.
The Nicholls Online English program offers five concentrations in children’s and young adult literature, creative writing, film studies, literary studies and writing and rhetoric. An English degree can prepare students for many careers, including teaching, journalism, editing and publishing.
