Napoleonville Man Charged with Felony Rape of a Mentally Handicapped Person

All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Tyrone S. Chevers, 54, of 227-A Highway 401, Napoleonville, LA, on felony rape charges arising out of a complaint filed on May 25, 2022.

On the aforementioned date deputies responded to a complaint in Labadieville in reference to a possible rape case.

Detectives initiated an investigation into the rape of a mentally handicapped individual that allegedly occurred within a 24-hour period prior to the incident being reported.

Detectives recovered evidence consistent with the crime of rape and were able to identify the suspect as Tyrone S. Chevers, a twice-convicted registered sex offender.

Detectives secured arrest warrants for Tyrone S. Chevers. He was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*First Degree (Aggravated) Rape
