Napoleonville Man Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Murphy Lee Wesley, 20, of 108 Marshall Lane, Napoleonville, LA, on multiple felony charges following an attempted traffic stop / pursuit originating near Paincourtville.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a northbound vehicle on LA 308 commit a traffic violation and attempted to conduct a stop of that vehicle.  The suspect vehicle failed to stop and accelerated to speeds exceeding 115 miles per hour.  The suspect vehicle continued on into the Belle Rose community.

At some point, the suspect vehicle crashed, and the suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and arrested.

The suspect now identified as Murphy Lee Wesley was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Aggravated Flight from an Officer

*Obstruction of Justice

*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License

*Resisting an Officer

*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic

*Disregarded Stop Sign

*Fugitive – Louisiana State Police – Insurance Fraud

*Fugitive – Failure to Appear for Court in Assumption Parish on Charges of:

​​-Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling

Murphy Lee Wesley remains incarcerated with bond set at $65,000.
