Murray A. Duval, 87, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at St. Joseph, The Carpenter House in Lafayette.

Murray was born September 30, 1934, the son of Percy Duval and Maude Martin Duval.

Murray was a faithful man of God. He belonged to the Third Order of the Franciscans. He was a lector at St. Bernadette church, as well as a CCD teacher, being a parishioner of the church for 60 years. Murray played an intricate part in getting the perpetual adoration chapel established at St. Bernadette. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Anna β€œJean” LaVerne Duval; six children, Allison Cook, Anna Sauce and husband Bernie, Angela Verret and husband Lance, Paul Duval, Stephen Duval, and Jude Duval and wife Natalie; three sisters, Geraldine Broussard, Delores Robicheaux, and Diane Estay; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Murray was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Maude Duval; two brothers, C.J. and Huey Duval; three sisters, Rena Drash, Mercedes Delaune, Dora Marcel; grandson, Nikalas Duval.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Duval, Blake Verret, Jonathan Verret, Andrew Duval, Jacob Duval, Lance Verret, Bernie Sauce, and Danny Marcel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2022 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. Visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at St. Bernadette Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the rosary at 10:00 a.m. After Mass, Murray will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery, where Military honors will be rendered by the East St. Mary Funeral Squad.
