Morgan City Woman Charged with Financial Crimes

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Rebecca Marie Freer, 40, of 192 Mallard Street, Morgan City, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a check scheme at a Pierre Part retail outlet.

On February 9, 2024, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s detectives initiated an investigation regarding forged checks cashed at the business.

Detectives learned that in November of 2023, three individuals entered the business establishment and cashed checks which had been forged.
Detectives were able to identify the individuals who presented the forged instruments for cashing. One of these individuals was identified as Rebecca Marie Freer.
On March 16, 2024, Rebecca Marie Freer was arrested by the Morgan City Police Department on local charges there.

Rebecca Marie Freer was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on March 20, 2024. Rebecca Marie Freer was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Monetary Instrument Abuse
*Forgery
*Access Device Fraud
*Bank Fraud
*Identity Theft

Rebecca Marie Freer remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
This investigation is ongoing.
