NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of John Bergeron, 39, of 115 Rice Street, Morgan City, LA, on charges of First-Degree Rape and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile.
On or about June 27, 2022, detectives received a complaint from a now adult female who alleged that she was 12 years old when she was raped at a residence in Bayou L’Ourse. The victim identified her alleged attacker as John Bergeron. Furthermore, the suspect is accused of performing leud acts in the presence of the victim and forced her to perform sexual reciprocal acts.
During the investigation, detectives were able to corroborate the victim’s allegations as well as gather evidence to support the same. The suspect was known to the victim.
On December 7, 2022, evidence was presented to an Assumption Parish Grand Jury and the panel subsequently indicted John Bergeron.
Warrants were applied for and granted for the arrest of John Bergeron.
On Friday, John Bergeron was arrested by Terrebonne Parish.
John Bergeron was transferred to Assumption Parish on December 13, 2022, and booked into the detention center on charges of:
*First Degree Rape
*Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile
John Bergeron remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
