Chief Chad M. Adams announced that Joey Jermaine Francois, 45, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, has been charged following a continued narcotics investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department.
According to authorities, Francois was initially arrested on February 16, 2026, on multiple narcotics charges after detectives executed a search warrant at his residence on Aucoin Street.
On February 20, 2026, investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division received information suggesting that Francois may have stored additional contraband in the Siracusaville and Amelia areas. Detectives collaborated with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division to execute search warrants at two separate locations.
During the searches, investigators reportedly discovered multiple firearms along with three homemade explosive devices inside a bag allegedly identified as belonging to Francois. Due to the dangerous nature of the items, authorities immediately contacted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Louisiana State Police for assistance.
Upon arrival, federal and state agents safely neutralized and rendered the explosive devices safe.
A subsequent search warrant was then executed at Francois’ residence in Morgan City, where investigators located an additional homemade explosive device. That device was also safely neutralized by ATF and Louisiana State Police personnel.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, warrants were obtained charging Francois with Manufacture and Possession of a Bomb.
The investigation into the incidents in the Siracusaville and Amelia areas remains active and ongoing by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Additional details may be released as the investigation continues.
