ST. MARTINVILLE, La. — St. Martin Parish officials have announced the activation of a public sandbag distribution site in Stephensville as residents prepare for the potential impacts of heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, residents may obtain sandbags at the following location:

Stephensville Park
3257 Highway 70
Stephensville, Louisiana

Residents are reminded to bring a shovel and should be prepared to fill their own sandbags. Distribution will be limited to 25 sandbags per vehicle. Officials note that, in most cases, approximately six sandbags are sufficient to help protect a doorway from floodwaters.

The sandbag distribution schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, June 16: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 17: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Thursday, June 18: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to prepare their homes and property ahead of any potential severe weather impacts.
