Houma – On November 1, 2021, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations was requested by the Houma
Police Department (HPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting.

At approximately 4:11 p.m., the Houma Police Department received a call about a disturbance at an address on
Downtown Court in the city limits of Houma. The preliminary investigation by LSP Detectives revealed
immediately after the first HPD officer arrived on scene, 36-year-old Johnny McGee of Houma allegedly charged at the officer while holding a screwdriver. As the officer gave commands to stop and began to create distance, McGee allegedly continued forward as an additional officer arrived on the scene. McGee raised his arm with the screwdriver in hand towards one of the officers resulting in an officer discharging his service weapon.

McGee was struck by gunfire and transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. No officers
were injured in the incident.

Louisiana State Police is the lead investigating agency. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted with
processing the scene. As the investigation continues and evidence is processed, additional information will be
released.
