JEANERETTE, La. — Jeanerette Police Chief Terrance J. Moore Sr. is calling on the community to come forward with information as today marks one year since the tragic shooting death of Jamul Sparrow Jr., who was killed by gun violence on November 16, 2024, at approximately 4:38 p.m.

Chief Moore says the Sparrow and Steward families have endured a year of grief without answers, and he emphasized that the silence surrounding this case is not representative of the Jeanerette community he knows.

“This is not Jeanerette,” Chief Moore said. “If you know something, say something. This family is grieving an untimely death and deserves answers. If it were your family, you would demand the same.”

Moore urged residents to put themselves in the family’s place, stressing that community cooperation is crucial to bringing justice and closure.
