James Francis Blanchard passed away at the age of 58 on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
James, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, was born on November 8, 1962, the only child of Frank Blanchard and Audrey Pontiff. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
He is survived by his uncle, Ambrose (Boo) Blanchard and his wife Mary Ann of Charenton, aunts, Lucy Marcotte of Charenton, Beatrice Judice and her husband Lee of Centerville, Emily Blanchard of New Iberia, Irene Blanco of Patterson, and Martha Pontiff of Franklin; as well as numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis (Frank) Blanchard; his mother, Audrey Pontiff Picard; his paternal grandparents, Rene Blanchard and Anita Gaudet Blanchard; his maternal grandparents, Edward Pontiff and Amy Delcambre Pontiff; aunts and uncles, Regena Frederick, Rita Charpentier, Antoine Blanchard, Lena Mae Businelle, Elton Blanchard, Abel Blanchard, Marie Ann Blanchard, Aubrey Pontiff, Edward Pontiff, and Wilbur Pontiff.
Private memorial services will be held by the family at a later date.
