Investigation of a Shooting at Houma Parade Leads to a 15-year-old Charged with Attempted Murder

On 2-20-22, shortly before 11pm, while working the parade, Houma Police officers observed two groups of subjects involved in an altercation. Prior to addressing the confrontation, several shots were fired. As a result of the gunshots, the groups involved in the altercation fled on foot.

Afterwards, Houma Police located a male who sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso. As the investigation continued, Houma Police learned the victim was an innocent bystander who was not involved in the altercation. He was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

While investigating the incident, Houma Police located a 15 yr. old armed with a semi-automatic pistol. Through investigation, Houma Police detectives were able to develop information that he was connected to the shooting. Taking this into consideration, he was arrested for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Illegal Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center to be booked and jailed to await bond or court.

This investigation is ongoing as Houma Police detectives continue interviews and gathering evidence.
