
The Lafourche Sheriff’s Regional P.O.S.T. Training Academy proudly celebrated the graduation of 22 cadets from Class 130 during a ceremony held Tuesday night, marking the completion of an intensive 16-week training program that prepares new officers for careers in law enforcement.
The graduating class represents a wide network of agencies from across Louisiana, showcasing the academy’s continued impact on public safety training statewide. Agencies represented in Class 130 include:
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office
St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office
Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office
Thibodaux Police Department
Ferriday Police Department
New Roads Police Department
Morgan City Police Department
Tallulah Police Department
Port Vincent Police Department
Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice
Throughout the academy, cadets completed rigorous coursework and practical skills training in areas such as criminal law, emergency response, defensive tactics, firearms proficiency, crisis intervention, physical fitness, ethics, and community policing.
Sheriff Craig Webre and academy leaders commended the graduates for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to serving their communities.
“These men and women have answered a tremendous calling,” said academy leadership during the ceremony. “They have demonstrated the heart, discipline, and professionalism required to protect and serve the people of Louisiana. We are proud of each of them and wish them great success as they begin their careers.”
Family, friends, and agency representatives filled the auditorium to honor the accomplishments of the new officers, who will now return to their respective departments to begin field training.
Class 130 now joins the long legacy of POST-certified officers trained at the Lafourche Sheriff’s Regional Academy—an institution recognized for producing highly capable, service-minded law enforcement professionals.
