GRAND ISLE, La. (April 6, 2026) — A 17-year-old from Houma has died after his body was recovered following a drowning incident near Grand Isle over the weekend.
Authorities say the teen was swimming near the beach and jetty area Saturday afternoon when he was pulled away by a strong current.
Emergency crews, including the U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies, launched a search after the teen was reported missing. Deputies initially had visual contact with him in the water before losing sight.
Following an extensive search, officials later located and recovered the teen’s body along the shoreline.
The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Jordan Naquin of Houma.
Investigators say the incident appears to be an accidental drowning caused by dangerous water conditions.
Officials are urging the public to use caution when swimming, especially near jetties and in areas known for strong currents.
The investigation remains ongoing.
