Houma Police Quickly Apprehend 75-Year-Old Armed Robbery Suspect

HOUMA — The Houma Police Department reports the arrest of 75-year-old James Domangue following an attempted armed robbery that occurred Friday, November 7, 2025, near Lumiere Blues & Jazz Bistro on Main Street.

According to investigators, officers responded to a call reporting that two women were confronted by a man who blocked their path and demanded money while displaying what appeared to be a firearm.

Officers quickly located the suspect near Wood and Liberty Streets, where they detained Domangue without incident. A BB pellet gun, closely resembling a real firearm, was found tucked into his waistband and later entered into evidence.

The victims positively identified Domangue as the individual who attempted the robbery. He was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on the following charges:

2 counts of Attempted Armed Robbery (LRS 14:64)

1 count of False Imprisonment with a Dangerous Weapon (LRS 14:46.1)

The Houma Police Department commended the responding officers for their professionalism, quick response, and dedication to ensuring public safety. Officials also confirmed that the downtown area near Lumiere Bistro is safe and clear following the incident.
