HOUMA, LA – A Houma man is behind bars following his arrest in connection with an ongoing sexual abuse investigation led by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit (SVU).

Sheriff Tim Soignet announced that James Bogen Jr., 56, was taken into custody on October 20, 2025, and booked on four counts of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. The arrest follows a detailed investigation launched after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced at a local high school.

In September 2025, TPSO’s Patrol Division responded to a report of possible sexual abuse involving a student. Deputies met with the alleged victim, who provided credible and specific information regarding multiple incidents of abuse over several months. The case was immediately transferred to SVU Detectives for further investigation.

Throughout their investigation, detectives obtained substantial evidence supporting the initial allegations. During this process, a second victim came forward independently, offering additional information implicating Bogen in further acts of sexual misconduct. Investigators believe additional victims may exist and are actively pursuing new leads.

Bogen was located by TPSO Patrol Deputies and taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $200,000 bond, set by local judges.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case and ongoing efforts to protect those involved, the identities of the victims are not being released.

Sheriff Soignet confirmed that the investigation remains active and that additional charges could be forthcoming.

“As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victims and their families,” said Sheriff Soignet. “Our detectives are working diligently to bring this case to resolution and ensure a dangerous offender is held accountable.”

Authorities urge anyone with information related to this case to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office SVU.

All individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
