TERREBONNE PARISH, La. — A Schriever man has been arrested following a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse.
According to Sheriff Tim Soignet, 61-year-old Leslie Paul Thibodaux was arrested on a charge of Sexual Battery after detectives investigated allegations involving a child under the age of 13.
The investigation began on July 20, 2026, when patrol deputies responded to a report of suspected sexual abuse. During the initial investigation, the victim and a parent identified the suspect as a relative. The victim told investigators the inappropriate touching began when she was about 7 years old and continued over several years at two separate locations in Terrebonne Parish.
The case was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, where detectives conducted additional interviews and documented forensic evidence. Authorities say the victim’s statements supported the allegations, leading detectives to obtain an arrest warrant through the 32nd Judicial District Court.
On July 24, Thibodaux was questioned by investigators and denied the allegations before being arrested on the warrant. He was later released after posting a $150,000 bond.
Sheriff Soignet said the investigation remains active, and detectives have not ruled out the possibility of additional victims.
