Gunfire Complaint Leads to Drug and Weapon Arrests in New Iberia

On July 27th, at approximately 2:00 a.m., deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire near Blake Drive and quickly identified the suspected source at a residence on Coteau Road. Upon investigation, deputies discovered a fully automatic Glock handgun equipped with an extended magazine, narcotics, and items commonly used for drug distribution.

A search warrant was later executed at the residence, resulting in the recovery of an AR-15 rifle that had been reported stolen out of Lafayette Parish.

Three adults and one juvenile (17 years of age) were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail as follows:

Mister Jackson – Bond: $60,000
• LA R.S. 14:69.1 – Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms
• LA R.S. 40:966(A)(1) – Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I
• LA R.S. 40:1752 – Handling of Machine Guns
• LA R.S. 14:94 – Illegal Use of Weapons
• LA R.S. 40:981.3 – Drug-Free Zone Violation
• LA R.S. 14:95(E) – Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS

Shaneta Leday – Bond: $5,000
• LA R.S. 14:69.1 – Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms

Brandon Sinegal – Bond: $5,000
• LA R.S. 14:69.1 – Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms

(Juvenile) – Bond: $7,000
• LA R.S. 14:69.1 – Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms

This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
