Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Gray man following a domestic violence investigation that took place Sunday morning, December 21, 2025.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 100 block of T Beb Court regarding a reported domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who reported she had been physically assaulted by her children’s father, identified as 32-year-old Ryan Chaisson, during an altercation that occurred in the presence of their minor children.
Deputies observed visible injuries on the victim, including lacerations, redness, and marks consistent with strangulation. Investigators documented the injuries and damage inside the residence through photographs and collected evidence at the scene.
During the investigation, deputies learned Chaisson had fled the residence in the victim’s vehicle without her consent. The vehicle was entered into law enforcement databases, and later that morning, deputies located both the vehicle and Chaisson at a residence in Gray. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
Chaisson was booked on charges of Domestic Abuse Child Endangerment, two counts of False Imprisonment, and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
“Domestic violence is never acceptable, and when children are exposed to violence in the home, the effects can be long-lasting and traumatic,” said Sheriff Soignet. “Our deputies take these incidents seriously and will act swiftly to protect victims and hold offenders accountable. We encourage anyone experiencing domestic abuse to seek help. Your safety—and your children’s safety—matters.”
Anyone experiencing domestic violence or with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 876-2500.
All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
