Franklin Mayor Eugene Foulcard officially opened the 5th Street Fish and Pier kayak launch on Wednesday, a new attraction aimed at boosting ecotourism in the area. The launch has already garnered significant interest from the city’s residents, which will give them a new site for fishing opportunities.
“We are very excited that this could help us with ecotourism. And many people of the city have already started utilizing this area to fish,” Mayor Foulcard said. He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the presence of members of the City Council and other individuals who played crucial roles in making the kayak launch a reality.
Among those recognized were Mayor Pro Tem Lester Levine, Councilman Chuck Autin, Parks and Recreation Director Mr. Chris Barrios, and Ms. Tammy Rogers from the Mayor’s Administrative Team. Mayor Foulcard extended his gratitude to Mr. Dale Rogers from Frisco Industrial Contractors, who successfully bid for the project and executed the construction.
“As I’ve always said, as Main Street goes, so goes the rest of the community. We’re doing things all over Franklin,” Mayor Foulcard commented. He emphasized the significance of revitalizing Main Street as it sets the stage for the overall improvement of the community. With the increased revenue generated from various developments, the city can continue to prioritize enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
