Franklin Home Sustains Heavy Damage in Sunday Night Fire

Franklin home was declared a total loss as a result of a Sunday evening fire. At 9:30 pm, St Mary 911 dispatched the Franklin Fire Department and Centerville Volunteer Fire Department to the area of Gumpoint Lane and Mitchell St for a house on fire.

The Franklin Fire Department arrived on scene at 9:36 pm and located a residence in the 300 block of Gumpoint Lane that was 50% involved and threatening the neighboring home.

Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to protect the neighboring exposure and attack the fire.

The fire was quickly brought under control. Five fire engines, a rescue truck and 16 firefighters responded to the incident, along with deputies from the St Mary Sheriff Office and Acadian Ambulance. There were no injuries reported.

The cause is under investigation by the Franklin Fire Department. Foul play is not suspected.
