Over the past weekend, the Franklin Police Department responded to 13 complaints and made several arrests:
The department requests that anyone with video footage pertaining to an incident at Franklin Senior High School on Friday, October 6, 2023, please contact Chief Handy at (337) 940-4771. Video evidence can be sent to policechief@franklin-la.com, and those providing it may remain anonymous. The investigation continues and further arrests may follow.
Tasha Louis, 41, of Gates Dr., Franklin, LA, was apprehended on October 6, 2023, at 3:12 PM for warrants issued on September 21, 2023, related to simple assault and cyberbullying. Louis was booked, processed and released to appear before Third Ward City Court.
Jasmine McCoy, 29, from Iberia St., Franklin, LA was taken into custody on October 6, 2023, at 8:25 PM on charges including battery of a police officer, disturbing the peace through fighting, remaining where forbidden and interference with a law enforcement investigation. McCoy was booked and processed before being released on a $7,000 bond.
Marie McCoy, aged 58 from Iberia St., Franklin was arrested on October 6th at around 8:50 PM. She faced multiple charges such as battery of a police officer – two counts; resisting an officer with force; simple criminal damage to property. After processing her booking she was released upon payment of a bond set at of $7,500.
Jamond Johnson of Boudreaux St., Franklin was taken into custody at approximately10/06/2023 at around 9:02 PM. His listed charges include battery of a law enforcement official in four separate accounts; resisting arrest with force (three counts) and causing a disturbance by engaging in altercations. Furthermore he had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in the Third Ward City Court on charges such as possession of marijuana, driving under suspension, improper backing and one way roadways. At the time of the press release, no bond had been set for Johnson, and he was still being held in custody.
