A deadly house fire in Houma is under investigation after it claimed the life of a 70-year-old man and seriously injured his brother. The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal reported the incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, October 19, in the 1100 block of Grinage Street near Lafayette Street.
The Houma Fire Department responded to the scene, where one man was found dead. His brother sustained serious fire-related injuries and was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans. His current condition has not been released.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and whether the home had working smoke detectors at the time.
