A late Saturday night accident near Franklin has claimed the life of a pedestrian. Just after 11:00 pm, Franklin Fire Department, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department and Acadian Ambulance were dispatched to Highway 90 westbound on the Willow Street overpass just before the Franklin exit. Louisiana State Police Troop I also assisted at the scene.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was walking eastbound in the westbound lane of Highway 90 and was struck by a vehicle. The victim was reportedly located quite a distance from the point of impact and was pronounced deceased.
The accident remains under investigation and the identity of the victim is pending notification of next of kin. We will update the story once more information becomes available.
