Donald G. Dugas passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was born in Jeanerette on May 29, 1935, the eldest of two children born to the union of Anthony and Iona Dugas, and was raised in Centerville. He met his future bride at their church, Calvary Bible Church in Centerville, where they were married on October 28, 1955. While he was attending college at USL Donald was drafted into the United States Army, of which he honorably served his country for 3 1/2 years as a Med Lab Specialist. Following his time in the military he and his family returned to Centerville where they have resided ever since. Donald worked for Cabot Corporation as a Lab Technician for 33 years, retiring in 1998. While working at Cabot, he also became interested in law and became a Paralegal. He also received his Amateur HAM Radio Operators License and enjoyed keeping his vehicles and yard meticulous. His presence on this side of eternity will be greatly missed but his family takes comfort in knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior and his many loved ones that have gone before him.
Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Peggy Platt Dugas; his daughter, Diana Dugas James and her husband Cody; his son, Donald Phillip “Phil” Dugas and his wife Michelle; seven grandchildren, Brittany James Simoneaux and her husband Lawrence, Brooke James Latiolais and her husband Aaron, Darren Robichaux and his wife Ari, Ross Dugas and his wife Brooke, Emily Dugas Eggler and her husband Dan, Scott Guillory and his wife Stacy, and Tayler Guillory Lesley and her husband Joshua; 13 great grandchildren, Allie Simoneaux, Bryson Simoneaux, Elizabeth LeGendre, Addalynn Dugas, Ridge Bernard, Lily Eggler, Sadie Eggler, Scarlet Guillory, Sawyer Guillory, Seth Guillory, Sierra Guillory, Silas Guillory, and Savannah Guillory; his sister, Marie Dugas Kornegay; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant son (Phil’s twin), Ronald Stephen Dugas; and his parents, Anthony Dugas and Iona Carline Dugas.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, November 21, 2022, at Calvary Bible Church in Centerville beginning at 10:00 AM with the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Following services, Donald will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Centerville Presbyterian Cemetery. Rev. John Kimball will conduct the services. Those serving as pallbearers will be Lawrence Simoneaux, Aaron Latiolais, Ross Dugas, Darren Robichaux, Scott Guillory, and Joshua Lesley.
