Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Chackbay man in connection with a May 2025 shooting in Thibodaux. Brian Carcisse, 34, is charged with attempted murder, as well as several drug and weapon charges.

On the night of May 11, 2025, deputies responded to a call of a woman whose residence was struck by gunfire. At least four rounds were found to have struck the residence. Deputies searched the nearby area but could not locate any possible suspects. They did, however, locate several shell casings.

Detectives took over the investigation and developed Carcisse as a suspect in the shooting. They obtained a search warrant for a residence at which he was staying. On June 12, detectives and narcotics agents assisted in a search of the residence. When they arrived, they located Carcisse, and he was detained. During a search of the residence, investigators found various ammunition and three handguns, one of which was found to have been reported stolen in 2019. They also found over 150 grams of suspected marijuana packaged in a manner commonly used for selling narcotics, as well oxycodone pills. At that time, he was arrested on drug and weapons charges.

As the investigation into the shooting continued, detectives found additional evidence that Carcisse shot at the residence with the intention of striking the woman inside. Then, they obtained a warrant for his arrest.

In all, Carcisse was booked on warrants for attempted second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was additionally charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of oxycodone, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and three additional counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bail is set at $290,000. He is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole as a probation violator.
