Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Lafourche Parish Schools Superintendent Jarod Martin revealed that a student from Central Lafourche High School is facing charges surrounding threats in a rap song. The individual was charged after being recognized as the vocalist in a YouTube video posted last week, which included violent threats directed at people from the school. No specific threats were made regarding the school itself or any particular date.
Deputies received information about the rap song on October 16, 2023, from a worried person. The song expressed violent intentions towards certain teachers at the high school. Following an investigation, authorities identified the singer as a student from Central Lafourche High School. Juvenile detectives tracked down the student on Monday night and subsequently charged him.
After the video gained attention on social media on Monday, an old screenshot depicting a vague threat about a “central” school also started circulating online and through private messages. This, combined with the rap song, raised concern among parents of Central Lafourche High School students. However, investigators determined that the screenshot came from another state and referred to a different school.
As an added precaution, Sheriff Webre stated that there would be heightened security at Central Lafourche High School on Tuesday, even though no specific or credible threat to the institution has been identified.
