Burney Joseph Louviere passed away at the age of 89 on the morning of Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home in Franklin.

Burney was a veteran of the Army National Guard of Louisiana serving eight years and was honorably discharged with the ranking of Sergeant. He worked the majority of his life in the Sugar Cane Industry as a mill supervisor. Some of his favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, and gardening. He will be remembered for his hard working ethic, his generous nature, his smile, and as a simple man who enjoyed a simple life. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.

Burney leaves behind his wife of nearly 66 years, Louella Verret Louviere; three children, Glenn Louviere and his wife Catherine, Gail L. Naquin and her husband Kenny, and Patsy L. Abshire and her husband Dalton Sr.; nine grandchildren, Glenn Louviere Jr. and his wife Amber, Arthur Louviere, Ryan Louviere and his wife Mindy, Melissa Millet, Erica Abshire, Janet A. Eaton and her husband Corey Sr., Dalton Abshire Jr. and his wife Sara, Kaylee L. Campbell and her husband Matt, and Lee Louviere; six great grandchildren, Graison Louviere, Asher Louviere, Amelia Louviere, Jaxon Touchet, Corey Eaton Jr., and Noah Eaton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Louviere; his parents, Ambrose Louviere and Agnes Landry Louviere; five brothers, Melvin, Ray, Arthur, Kearney, and Charles Louviere; and three sisters, Tillie Charpentier, Loretta Miguez, and Lois Breaux.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, with Rev. Joe Sauce officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until time of service. Those serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Louviere Jr., Arthur Louviere, Ryan Louviere, Lee Louviere, Mark Anslum, and Ronnie Anslum.
