A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Burlin (often referred to by his nickname Bowlegs) was known for his dedication to his wife, Mable & his family. He worked hard to provide for his loved ones, as a trapper in his younger years and later as a boat captain. He excelled at his work. Burlin was also an avid hunter who greatly enjoyed spending time among the beauty of the Louisiana swamps. It was a hobby he enthusiastically shared with both his children and grandchildren. In his older years, you could bet if you caught Burlin at home, he was watching his favorite western shows or reading a good western book by Louis L’Amar. A known jokester, everyone knew Burlin for always having something humorous to say. His presence always brought smiles and those who loved him most will never forget his wonderful memory.

Those left to cherish his beautiful memory are his four children, Burton James LaCoste and his wife, Penny, of Patterson, Ellen Faye Barnett and her husband, Dave, of Seattle, WA., Teri Lynn Gros and her husband, Leon of Berwick, and Terry Wayne LaCoste; 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita “Mable” LeBlanc LaCoste; four children, Roger Dale LaCoste Sr., Terry Lynn LaCoste Sr., Billie Ann Haarmann, and Terry Lynn LaCoste Jr; one grandson, Marcus Leon Gros; his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.
