Brandy Lynn Burleigh, a resident of New Iberia for the past year, passed away at the age of 47 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette in the evening hours of Tuesday, March 23, 2021, following a brief illness.

Brandy was born on May 5, 1973 in Franklin where she was raised and resided for the majority of her life. She was the younger of two children born to Jimmie Garrett Burleigh Sr. and Toni Garlotte Burleigh, who both preceded her in death. A loving daughter and sister, a devoted mother, and a doting grandmother, Brandy gave of herself in caring for others, often putting the needs of those around her before her own. She cherished time spent with her loved ones and treasured her Catholic faith, attending Mass as often as she could. She had a love of animals and enjoyed cooking and playing cards. Although gone from this life all too early, her family takes great comfort in knowing that, though not healed in the view of this world, through her faith in Jesus Christ she enjoys true healing and can take her rest with all her loved ones that have gone before her.

Those she leaves to cherish her beautiful memory include her daughter, Mackenzie Burleigh and her companion Cade Olivarez; her brother, Jimmie G. Burleigh Jr.; aunts and uncle, Gloria (LuLu) Greaux, Janice Peltier, Joseph (Joey) Garlotte III, Patti Boothe, and Michele Chauvin, and their families; her chosen daughter, Casey Louviere; her three chosen grandchildren; as well as two nephews, one niece, and three great-nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joseph A. Garlotte, Jr. and Gloria Dumesnil Garlotte; and her paternal grandparents, C. C. (Blackie) Burleigh and Velma Edwards Burleigh.

Funeral service schedule is pending at this time and will updated once available.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to help alleviate funeral expenses.
