𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝟑𝟐, Berwick, LA, was arrested on May 5, 2026, at 6:47 on the following charges:
• Simple battery
• Aggravated assault upon a police officer (7 counts)
• Resisting an officer
• Aggravated cruelty to animals (2 counts)
At approximately 4:14 PM, Officers with the Berwick Police Department responded to a disturbance call on Tournament Boulevard. During the response, a suspect released dogs to attack the arriving officers. One officer discharged their service weapon, striking and injuring one dog. The second dog was captured safely, and the suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
At that time, the Berwick Police Department called the SMPSO to investigate the incident, and SMPSO detectives responded to the scene and opened an investigation.
Upon arrival, detectives learned that a dispute between Lemoine and a family member. BPD officers had detained Lemoine at the scene. While preparing him for transport, Lemoine gave a command to his dogs to attack the officers. The dog went at an officer, who backed away, but the dog jumped at the officer to bite. The officer discharged his service weapon and struck the dog. The dog was transported to an animal hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
Lemoine was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has not been set at this time.
