Berwick Arrest Report 3-30-2022

Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:

Jeremy P. Dufort, 18-years-old, of Patty Road Abbeville, LA, was arrested on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 12:09AM, on the following charges:

  • DWI First Offense
  • Improper Lane Use
  • Open Alcohol Container

On March 29th, at 11:16PM, officers observed a vehicle traveling westbound on LA Hwy 182 swerving in and out of the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Dufort. While speaking with Dufort, the officers noted that he exhibited signs of impairment on alcohol and administered field sobriety tests, which he performed poorly on. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located an open bottle of an alcoholic beverage inside. Dufort was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he submitted a proper breath sample of .148g%BAC. He was booked into the Berwick Jail and later released after posting a $3,000.00 bond.

Antonio Collins Jr., 37-years-old, of Pluto Street Morgan City, LA, was arrested on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 3:52AM, on the following charges:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA (Ecstasy)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Transactions Involving Drug Proceeds
  • No License Plate Lights
  • Two Tail Lamps Required
  • No Insurance

On March 30th, at 2:55AM, officers observed a vehicle traveling on Robinson Rd. with no license plate lights and with only one working tail lamp. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver was identified as Collins. During the course of the stop, a K-9 scan was conducted by a Morgan City PD K-9 officer and the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics inside of the vehicle. A search was conducted and officers located 55.2 grams of methamphetamine, 158 MDMA tablets, and 3 grams of marijuana. The officers determined that the methamphetamine and MDMA tablets were destined for sale and the currency recovered was derived from illegal drug transactions. Collins was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail where he remains with no bond set.
