Bayou Vista Man Arrested in Car Burglary Joint Investigation

Luis Garcilazo, 19, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on November 21, 2021, at 11:34 am for illegal possession of stolen things and illegal possession of stolen firearms. Garcilazo was also arrested on a Berwick Police Department warrant for burglary-simple and theft of a firearm.

On Monday, November 22, 2021, a detective with the Narcotics Section of the SMPSO was contacted in reference to assisting a Berwick Police Department Detective with a case of an overnight car burglary in the Berwick/Bayou Vista area.

Through the investigation, the BPD detective had developed Garcilazo as the suspect in a vehicle burglary in which several items had been taken.

The SMPSO detective obtained and executed a search warrant on a residence in Bayou Vista. Subsequently, stolen items and firearms were located.

Garcilazo was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has not been set.
