PATTERSON – The Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association recently held its City Singles Championship at Kemper Williams Park, Patterson. The event took place on November 11th, 2023. Participants from various hometowns competed to showcase their horseshoe pitching skills.
In Class A, Burnie Williams from Morgan City secured the 1st place with a 4-1 record and a ringer percentage of 52.0. Al Dodson, also from Morgan City, came in 2nd place with a 3-2 record, while Tim Gilmore from Bayou Vista finished in 3rd place.
Class B had Angela Percle from Morgan City taking top honors with a 4-1 record and a ringer percentage of 38.0. Linda Dodson and Dale Pearce, both also from Morgan City, captured the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
Matthew Strickland from Morgan City emerged as the winner in Class C with an impressive 4½-½ record. Jim Guzdial from Patterson was the runner-up with a score of 2½-1½. In the third position stood Glenn Caillouet hailing from Raceland.
The Class D title went to Al Graham of Berwick who achieved a clean sweep with a perfect score of 5-0. Kevin Kinslow and Hilton Rhodes, both originating from Morgan City and Bayou Vista respectively, trailed closely behind Graham for the subsequent places.
The championship round featured a round-robin style playoff among all first-place winners to determine the overall champion. Angela Percle emerged as champion with a performance that recorded a result of 3-0 and a ringer percentage of 40.0.
Following Percle’s victory were Matthew Strickland in second place and Al Graham in third position. Burnie Williams finished fourth in the championship round. Angela Percle took home the title of City Singles Champion.
