Baldwin Police Chief Anthony Gibson has confirmed to KQKI News that a Thursday afternoon accident on Highway 90 westbound near Baldwin, involving a vehicle and a bicycle, has resulted in a fatality. The accident was reported at approximately 1:30 pm and occurred just before the Baldwin overpass.
Highway 90 westbound was closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours as first responders were on scene of the accident. The highway reopened just after 4:00 pm.
Multiple agencies are either on the scene or working traffic including Baldwin Police and Fire Departments, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police and Fire Departments and Louisiana State Police Troop I.
Gibson said the accident is currently under investigation and no other information is available at this time. We will update the story once more information becomes available.
