Arrest Made in Mardi Gras Night Shooting in Baldwin

Baldwin Police Chief Anthony Gibson has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a shooting on Mardi Gras night that left two victims injured.  with a shooting on Mardi Gras night that left two victims injured.  

On Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at approximately 12:50pm, officers arrested Kelvin Markeith Porter Jr. who was charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and one count of Illegal Use of Weapon or Dangerous Instrumentalities.

After learning of a warrant for his arrest, Porter turned himself in to the Baldwin Police Department. He was transported to St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

Gibson thanked the officers of Baldwin Police Department, St.Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department, Louisiana State Police Criminal Intelligence Unit and Louisiana State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit for their assistance with the investigation.
